The National Gazetteer of Great Britain and Ireland - 1868

In 1868, the parish of Dangandonovan contained the following places:

"DANGANDONOVAN, (or DINGINDONOVAN, or Danion), a parish in the barony of Imokilly, in the county of Cork, province of Munster, Ireland, 4 miles N. of Castlemartyr. Killeagh is its post town. The surface is mountainous, and the soil of medium quality. The living is a suspended rectory in the diocese of Cloyne. The church is in ruins. Glengarra and Ballyre are the principal residences. Here are some interesting ruins of a castle founded by the Geraldines in 1396. It was surrendered by Earl Desmond to Captain Raleigh, held for a short time by M'Carty, and eventually destroyed by fire. Fairs are held on the 2nd February, 1st April, and 5th August.
