In 1868, the parish of Templequinlan contained the following places:

"TEMPLEQUINLAN, a parish in the barony of East Carbery and Ibane, county Cork, province of Munster, Ireland, 4 miles E.N.E. of Clonakilty, its post town. The soil is productive. The parish is crossed by the road from Clonakilty to Timoleague, and by the river Arigadeen. The living is a suspended vicarage in the diocese of Ross, in the patronage of the bishop. The church has long been in ruins. In the Roman Catholic arrangement this parish is united to that of Clonakilty. The principal residence is Castleview. The weaving of coarse linen is carried on to some extent. The ruins of Ballinarohan Castle are in this parish. The burial-place is still used, and contains the family vaults of the Allens."
