- Castle Northwich was a township in Witton chapelry of Great Budworth ancient parish, Eddisbury hundred (SJ 6573), which became a civil parish in 1866.
- The civil parish was abolished in 1894 to become part of Northwich.
- The population was 385 in 1801, 1135 in 1851, and 2345 in 1901.
