First Report of the Barrow Committee

by

R.N. Worth, F.G.S. etc.

Trans. Devon Assoc. 1879, Vol XI, pp.146-160.

Prepared by Michael Steer

The report was presented at the Association’s July 1879 Ilfracombe meeting. This particularly important working Committee was formed with the express purpose of collecting and recording facts relating to Barrows in Devonshire, exclusive of Dartmoor and taking steps where possible for their investigation. The Report provides as the Committee’s first instalment of Devonshire Barrow literature, references to all notices of Barrows found  in the Association’s Transactions. The article, from a copy of a rare and much sought-after journal can be downloaded from the Internet Archive. Google has sponsored the digitisation of books from several libraries. These books, on which copyright has expired, are available for free educational and research use, both as individual books and as full collections to aid researchers.
