"MARBURY, a parish in the hundred of NANTWICH, county palatine of CHESTER, containing, with the townships of Marbury with Quoisley, and Norbury, 833 inhabitants, of which number, 395 are in the township of Marbury with Quoisley, 3½ miles (N. N. E.) from Whitchurch. The living is a perpetual curacy, with the rectory of Whitchurch, in the archdeaconry and diocese of Chester. The church, an ancient structure, has an elegant chancel, rebuilt by the late Earl of Bridgewater. A branch of the Chester canal passes through the parish, A school-house was erected in 1688, by subscription among the inhabitants. Marbury cum Quoisley, a township in Marbury ancient parish, Nantwich hundred (SJ 5645), became a civil parish in 1866.
